9.11 Cinemas, theatres and opera houses in Berlin

Berlin is well-known for its wide cultural diversity. Theatres, opera houses and cinemas are particularly popular among students. What is on and where is advertised in magazines such as Tip and the English-language magazine Exberliner. Going to the cinema is cheaper on certain weekdays, which are known as cinema days (Kinotage). Often, students can also buy tickets at a reduced price if they present their student ID.

The ClassicCard enables young persons up to 30 years old to obtain tickets at very reasonable prices for performances at the Deutsche Oper in Berlin-Charlottenburg, at the Konzerthaus at the Gendarmenmarkt and the Staatsoper Berlin. Detailed information about the ClassicCard may be obtained online with the option to order by e-mail.

In many other theatres and opera houses, tickets are available at reduced student rates. Tickets at reduced prices may be also bought from the ticket desk on the day of performance (Abendkasse).

Theatre and concert tickets at prices reduced up to 50% may be bought from the ticket discounter HEKTICKET at Alexanderplatz and Zoologischer Garten.
