10.1.1 Re-integration assistance

Re-integration programmes are offered to provide international students, academic staff and other qualified professional personnel with useful general information, information on points of contact and on financial support prior to as well as after returning to their home country.

A variety of societies, associations and institutions, such as World University Service, offer re-integration programmes in order to support the integration of graduates and other professionals, especially from developing countries.


Centre for International Migration and Development (CIM)
Returning Experts Programme
CIM runs a programme to support the professional integration of experts from developing countries.

Eligibility criteria:

  • completion of education or training in Germany or at least two years’ professional experience
  • residence permit for Germany
  • determination to return to one of the partner countries
  • determination to take up a job that contributes to development in the employer’s home country
