PROMOS

The German Academic Exchange Service's (DAAD) program PROMOS supports the internationalization of studies and teaching at German universities within the framework of annual funding commitments.

Currently we do not offer consultation hours in-person. Please contact the PROMOS team  via phone or e-mail: promos.international@hu-berlin.de. We also offer individual counseling via Zoom upon request. 

 

The PROMOS program offers a chance for students and in case of language courses also for PhD candidates to spend a period of time abroad. The scholarships are granted through a quality-led selection procedure by Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. Scholarships are arwaded subject to the final approval by the DAAD. There is no legal claim to the grant. The funding of stays in countries or regions for which the German Foreign Office has issued a travel warning is generally not possible. Please read the following information carefully.

Stays in the United Kingdom can be funded with PROMOS from 2023 onwards. Please note: The beginning of the stay must be in 2023 or later. Stays in the United Kingdom that start in 2022 cannot be funded with PROMOS.

 

Current application deadlines PROMOS at HU:

I.  April 30 for stays abroad in the period July 1 until December 31 (Application window:  April 01 - April 30)

II. November 15 for stays abroad in the period January 1 until June 30 (Application window: October 15 - November 15)

Funded PROMOS-Programs at HU:

Semester stays (S)

  • Country-specific partial scholarship mobility (travel allowance) and/or partial scholarship residence (living expenses)
  • Outside the Erasmus region program countries
  • For BA, MA, StEx students (except for medicine)
  • Up to 3 months

Final theses (A)

  • Country-specific partial scholarship mobility (travel allowance) and/or partial scholarship residence (living expenses)
  • Worldwide
  • For BA, MA, StEx students (except for medicine)
  • 1 to 3 months funding

 

Language courses (SP)

  • Country-specific partial scholarship mobility (travel allowance) and/or course fee in the amout of 500€
  • Worldwide
  • For BA, MA, StEx, PhD students
  • Course duration: min. 3 weeks (21 days)  Course load: min. 25h / week

Groups (G)

  • Please refer to Info sheet (German)
  • Outside the Erasmus region program countries
  • For BA, MA, StEx students
  • 2-14 days funding period

 

Internship (P) for HU-students 

  • Country specific partial scholarship mobility (travel allowance) and/or partial scholarship residence (living expenses)
  • Outside the Erasmus region program countries
  • 6 weeks to 3 months funding period

 

Internships (P) for Charité students

  • Seperate application procedure at Charité with different application deadlines
  • Country-specific partial scholarship mobility (travel allowance) and/or partial scholarship residence (living expenses)
  • Application only possible within the framework of bilateral arrangements outside the Erasmus region program countries
  • For medicine students
  • 6 weeks to 4 months funding period
