Promoting Scientific Collaborations between Humboldt-Universität and Princeton University since 2013

For almost 10 years now, there has been a strategic partnership (profile partner) between Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and Princeton University (USA), which was sealed by a joint cooperation agreement between the two university leaderships. The cooperation agreement has helped to promote existing close scientific collaborations through additional resources and support new joint projects.

Joint Project Funding

As part of the strategic partnership, approximately 300,000 EUR per year (150,000 EUR per university) was allocated from 2013-2018 to support joint research and teaching projects. Due to the sustainable success of these projects, institutional collaboration has been further expanded and intensified in recent years.

As part of a flagship funding program, the project "Constitutionalism under Stress" (CONSTRESS) will be funded with a budget of 130,000 EUR (matching funds) from 2022 to 2024. CONSTRESS offers an interdisciplinary combination of normative, legal, and social scientific research to develop a more nuanced understanding of the current crises of constitutionalism.

Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin as associated member of the German Center for Research and Innovation in New York (DWIH NY)

Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin has recently become an associated member of the German Center for Research and Innovation in New York (DWIH NY) as of 2022. This membership will not only provide opportunities for Humboldt-Universität researchers and students to connect with other institutions and experts in the United States region but also to engage in research collaboration and knowledge exchange.

While this membership does not have a direct connection with the partnership with Princeton University, it opens up new possibilities for HU researchers and students to engage with the US academic community.
