9.1.1 Student Councils in the faculties | Fachschaften

In every faculty, there is a particularly active group of students which is referred to as the Fachschaftsinitiative. The group represents students' interests in the institutes and departments belonging to the faculty. It cooperates with the departmental Academic Committee (Fachbereichsrat) and its sub-committees. Often, senior members organise the annual orientation week and campus tours for new students.

During the semester, members of the student councils hold counselling sessions where students are given useful information on organising their studies and on everyday life at university. The councils also offer excursions and parties such as the Semesterfrühstück (semester breakfast) and in some faculties also mentoring programmes. Information on the student councils is available on the websites of the departments and faculties.
