Since 2015: Promotion of scientific cooperation between Humboldt University and the Universidade de São Paulo (USP)

The academic and institutional relationships between the two universities have been strong for many years. USP is the largest and most research-intensive university in Latin America and its profile fits in very well with the range of research and subjects offered at the HU.  As strategic partners, HU and USP have been investing in joint research projects since 2016.

The partnership has always focused on joint research topics related to global challenges of our time, such as metropolitan-, migration- and climate research or global and planetary health, which complement each other particularly well in the German-Brazilian dialogue.

Further calls for proposals for research projects are currently being processed for 2024. The International Department works in close coordination with the USP International Cooperation Office (AUCANI) and the Graduate Office Graduate Office (PRPG).

HU-Membership at the German Center for Research and Innovation São Paulo (DWIH SP)

HU has been an associated member of the DWIH São Paulo (DWIH SP) since 2022. Although this membership is not directly related to the partnership with the USP, it opens up excellent networking, and funding opportunities for scientists and students of all levels,  both in Brazil and in Germany.
