Global Research Excellence

The Humboldt-University is deeply embedded in high ranking international research networks.

A particular strength of Humboldt-Universität is its support of interdisciplinary, international cooperation in teaching and research. With its interdisciplinary and internationally-orientated Integrative Research Institutes (IRI), Clusters of Excellence and Research Training Groups, HU has created a university-level culture of cooperation in teaching and research and various prototypes for a new, genuinely interdisciplinary understanding of science in recent years. This is in accordance with the tradition of Wilhelm von Humboldt, who reformed the Prussian educational system, and his brother Alexander von Humboldt, who maintained a global network of contacts already over 200 years ago.
