Neurocure

A Cluster of Excellence funded as part of the Excellence Initiative of the German national and regional governments at Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin

Its focus of research is neuroscience. Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Freie Universität Berlin, the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine (MDC), the Leibniz Institute for Molecular Pharmacology (FMP) and the German Rheumatism Research Center Berlin (DRFZ) are partners of NeuroCure alongside Charité.

The structural objective of NeuroCure is the expansion and consolidation of Berlin as a neuroscience location. The strategy is to improve the interconnection of ongoing research activities and to establish new professorships and junior research groups in Berlin. HU is pursuing an active recruitment policy to bring in top scientists from Germany and other countries. This is in addition to two support programmes, “Einstein Visiting Fellow” and “NeuroCure Visiting Fellow”, that integrate top scientists from abroad into Berlin’s research landscape for the long term in order to reinforce the international profile of Berlin’s universities and research institutes in future. The HU Welcome Service looks after international (visiting) scientists upon their arrival in Berlin and assists them with issues relating to their employment contract, the search for day care and dealing with administrative affairs (residence permits, etc.), for example. The English-language master’s and PhD programme supports the education and advancement of young scientists.
