A European summer? Apply now for one of Circle U.'s summer schools!
How about an international learning experience in Aarhus, Belgrade, Paris or here in Berlin? Circle U. offers six summer schools for all study levels and disciplines. Free of charge and with a chance to receive a travel grant.
Take the opportunity to meet peers from across Europe in these mostly interdisciplinary programmes on the essential topics of climate science, the future of democracy and new perspectives on global health. Additional offers focus on sustainability in agribusiness, narrative analysis in the field of multilingualism and interculturality research as well as advanced manufacturing.
All students selected to participate in one of these summer schools abroad will receive funding through the Erasmus+ programme. This includes a travel grant of 309 euros, as well as a stipend of 79 euros per day. Those who opt for environmentally sustainable travel by train can receive an additional top-up of 108 euros total.

"Empowering Climate Action through Policy, Communication & Agency: Islands on the Frontline"
This summer school explores how island communities are adapting to the climate crisis, driving advocacy and policy initiatives, and influencing international negotiations. Through an interdisciplinary approach, participants will examine the dynamic interplay between local action and global policy, discovering how communication, governance, and grassroots agency can empower meaningful climate solutions.

"Narrative and Discourse Analytical Approach to Multilingualism and Interculturality Research"
This summer school will examine how Narrative Analysis within the field of Discourse Analysis has been offering a method for understanding how individuals and communities create meanings and identities through storytelling. It will also look at how the narrative approach has been used effectively in interculturality research. Participants will also get a chance to compare research perspectives based on different scientific backgrounds and settings.

"Advanced Manufacturing: Solving Real-World Industrial Challenges"
This course covers a range of current and emerging topics within advanced manufacturing including: Digital Manufacturing (including digital twins and simulation), Additive Manufacturing (3D printing technologies and their industrial applications), Smart Manufacturing (integration of advanced sensors, automation and AI) and Sustainable Manufacturing. This knowledge is used to solve a real-world manufacturing challenge in a leading industrial company, Grundfos, in Bjerringbro, Denmark.

"Niche Strategies & Sustainable Competitive Advantage in Agribusiness"
This course explores niche strategies and resource management in the agrifood sector. It aims to highlight how changes in innovative approaches, competitive scenarios, and consumer needs have influenced strategic decision-making. Beginning from this broad perspective, the course will facilitate a discussion on achieving sustainable competitive advantage in the agrifood sector.

"Rethinking Global Health"
In this programme you will Improve your understanding of how your research interacts with global health issues and understand the importance of contextualizing global health. You will also develop critical thinking skills in global health and enhance teamwork and interpersonal skills. Last but not least, you will get to connect with leading professors, clinicians, NGOs and build networks with European peers.

"The Crossroads of Democracy and Development: Challenges and Innovations"
This interdisciplinary course provides an in-depth examination of the challenges that the democratic (liberal) order faces in today's world – including democratic backsliding, the rise of cultural wars, deepening polarization within societies, reversed globalization, protectionist economic measures and weakened support for multilateralism. The course also looks at innovative models to respond to these debelopments.
