Humboldt-Universität condemns Russia's attack on Ukraine

Statement of the Humboldt-Universität

Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin condemns Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine and is deeply concerned for the country's inhabitants. „Our thoughts are with our colleagues, fellow students and their families.“, says Prof. Dr. Peter Frensch, Acting President of Humboldt-Universität.

Within the “Refugees Welcome @ HU“ programme and Humboldt-Universität's membership with “Scholars at Risk“, Ukrainian academics and students will receive intensive visa support as well as social and academic support in crisis situations. The HU will make every effort to bring academics and students to the HU within the framework of sponsorship programmes so that they can complete their training and advance their research projects in Berlin.

Currently, several doctoral students and research assistants from Ukraine are conducting research at the HU. Humboldt-Universität also cooperates with the Ukrainian universities Taras Shevchenko University Kiev and Ivan Franko University Lviv (Lviv) and runs three exchange programmes with these universities, mainly within the framework of Erasmus. A total of 201 students with Ukrainian citizenship are currently studying at HU.
