Nuit des idées 2022: HU panellists discuss the future of Europe – watch now!

Climate change, populism, fake news and a pandemic – social cohesion in Europe is facing a whole host of challenges. The Institut français’ virtual Nuit des idées brings together scientists, writers and students to discuss where the continent’s headed.

From Brexit to climate change and the pandemic, there is no shortage of crises for European societies to deal with. It’s time to ask: How do want to live together in the future? What sort of Europe do we want? And, with the problems we’re facing, does Europe hold any answers?

To encourage dialog about these questions, the Institut français invited you to join this year’s Nuit des idées online on 27 January. On the occasion of France assuming the Presidency of the European Council, the Institut teamed up with Humboldt-Universität, the Centre Marc Bloch and the Slovenian arts centre Skika to bring you this interactive online event, streamed live from HU’s Heilig-Geist-Kapelle.

Experience a series of stimulating encounters in replay: Guests included authors Navid Kermani and Péter Nádas, Naika Foroutan of Berliner Institut für empirische Integrations- und Migrationsforschung, Renata Salecl of Birbeck College London. Camille Roth of Centre Marc Bloch, Corine Pelluchon of Université Gustave Eiffel, Marcel Robischon of HU’s Institut für Agrar- und Gartenbauwissenschaften as well as Vero Pinzger of student initiative Nachhaltigkeitsbüro.

The French version can be accessed through the Institut français’ website.
