Application Interview

After a successful first round of application, you will in most cases receive an invitation for a group interview by the International Department.

Duration of the group interview: 30-45 minutes.

To prepare for the selection interview, it is advisable to

• familiarize yourself with the daily politics, the political system and the educational system of the home and destination country
• acquire basic knowledge about your own university as well as your host university (e.g. who were the Humboldt brothers?)
• be prepared for questions from your own department/institute as well as for questions regarding your study plan in the host country (e.g. what does it mean for you and your studies to study/research exactly at this institute/university abroad)

Parts of the interview will take place in the language of the host country or the language that will be studied.
