Mobility in times of the pandemic

Stays abroad are possible again - depending on the exchange programme, country and university.

The summer semester 2020 was strongly influenced by the current corona pandemic. This led to the cancellation of almost all planned stays, especially for the mobility of students and lecturers.

But a larger number of stays is possible again - in Germany, Europe and parts of the rest of the world.

The Berlin universities see themselves as on site universities and would like to make teaching possible again in university rooms as soon as possible. The current semester is still held fully online. For the winter semester, Berlin's universities are striving for a mixture of digital teaching and classroom teaching. As soon as we know more details about the winter semester at the HU, we will provide information here.

Outgoing - Stays abroad by HU members

Stays abroad are possible again in many cases. However, this varies depending on the exchange programme, country and university. Some exchange programmes have specific regulations. Some universities will admit exchange students in the coming winter semester, others not. Please obtain information in detail about the regulations on our website. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

Plan and prepare early - even if you are still uncertain

We would like to encourage and support you to apply for stays abroad, because it is good to plan early. This will open up opportunities. Of course, the concrete arrangements will depend on the further development of the COVID-19 pandemic in different parts of the world and the resulting containment measures. Depending on the country of destination, it may, for example, lead to the cancellation of flights, entry restrictions and university closures. Please take this current uncertainty into account when planning your trip.
