Program description
The program funds internships with a duration from 6 weeks to 3 months. Internships for which the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) provides funding programs are not eligible for PROMOS funding. This refers to scholarships in organizations as EU-institutions, all organizations that maintain EU-programs, German embassys and consulates, German institutions of arts and humanities (e.g. Max Weber Stiftung), Goethe-Institutes and German schools.

Type of funding
- partial scholarship rate (living expenses) and/or
- travel allowance
The monthly scholarship rate for living expenses is 350 to 550 Euro. The amount of the travel allowance depends on the country of destination. For PROMOS funding rates, please check the table below on this page.
Application details
Students from all subjects may apply who are matriculated at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. Postgraduate/doctoral students are not eligible for sponsorship. For Charité students a separate application procedure applies.
In case the stay abroad overlaps the two mobility periods, please always apply for the period in which your stay begins.
The PROMOS scholarship cannot be combined with other scholarships financed by German public funds (e. g. DAAD or ERASMUS). The Deutschlandstipendium and the PROMOS scholarship can be received simultaneously. In case you receive Auslands-BAföG special rules apply.
After the stay students must submit an experience report.

- Enrollment certificate
- Curriculum Vitae (tabular form)

Letter of motivation (1-2 pages)
- description of how the internship contributes to your studies

Transcript of records
- stamped and signed by the examination office, displaying your current average grade

Copy of university diplomas
- in case you already completed other studies (B.A./B.Sc., diploma)

Proof of adequate language skills (for the language of instruction)
- e.g. DAAD language certificate, TOEFL or IELTS
- max. 2 years old
- Abitur certificate is not accepted

Proof of initiation of the stay
- Internship contract or Training Agreement detailing duration and financial conditions

Confirmation from examination office wether the internship is mandatory or voluntary
- Letter from the examination office or template "Bestätigung über Relevanz des Praktikums"

Statement of insurance
- Letter/confirmation from insurance company or insurance policy
- can be provided later
- Copy of your passport
