General information on support services

HU stands by the Ukrainian scientists and students during the Russian war of aggression. All information and support services can be found here.

Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin condemns Russia’s attack on Ukraine and is focusing on supporting Ukrainian students and academics in this situation. We would like to enable them to continue their studies and research projects.

Support for Ukrainian students and researchers

Currently the university offers an enrolement procedure for the Ukrainian refugee students. Moreover, we are working to receive funding for the coming semester(s) and will publish the upcoming information on this website. Please direct your enquiries to int.refugees@hu-berlin.de.

Intensive language courses are offered by two HU departments. Our Career Centre offers courses for all interested refugees, please contact our colleagues from the INTEGRA programmeWe are currently working on prolongation of the existing program.

At the beginning of the new semester, Humboldt-Universität's Language Centre offers a variety of language courses for enrolled students of the university. Moreover, during the last semesters special intensive German language courses (levels A and B) were offered for the Ukrainian refugee students enrolled at the university. New courses for B and C level will be offered starting from the summer semester. If you are a Ukrainian refugee student enrolled at the university and would be interested in such courses, please contact ukraine.studium@hu-berlin.de.

The International Department advises on research options at our university, residence issues and social concerns. This is done within the framework of the initiative “Refugees Welcome @ HU” and the “Scholars at Risk” services. We will keep you informed about current aid and funding programmes on this page and on social media.

You may also get in touch with any of the student-led welcome initiatives at HU. These volunteers offer support for refugees at Humboldt, including legal advice, mentoring programmes, language cafés and more.
