PROMOS scholarship

The PROMOS scholarship is aimed at students who do not receive Erasmus+ funding for their planned stay abroad and and are not going abroad as part of an Erasmus+ programme. Here you will find an overview of the conditions, the application procedure, the scholarship payments and the categories.

What is the PROMOS scholarship?

The PROMOS scholarship1 is a German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) funding programme that offers Humboldt-Universität students the opportunity to develop their academic and cultural skills worldwide. It is aimed at students of all disciplines and enables them to gain experience abroad in the form of study visits or theses abroad.

Law students who have an exchange place through a faculty partnership (with the exception of Erasmus+ programmes) are automatically considered in an internal selection procedure of the Faculty of Law for a PROMOS scholarship. Law students going abroad through a university-wide partnership apply through the regular PROMOS application procedure of the International Office (see below).

In our PROMOS FAQ, you can find all the details about the requirements and conditions available for download.

Group trips are intended to give students and doctoral candidates the opportunity to meaningfully supplement their studies with group activities in an international context. For this reason, formats that allow students and doctoral candidates to interact with other international students from different universities and acquire in-depth specialist and intercultural skills are deemed particularly worthy of funding.

It is an advantage if the credits that students earn as part of the group trip can be transferred, and the activities of the study trip take place in a subject-focussed foreign language.

You must submit the following documents:

  • Project outline
  • Programme and itinerary
  • Finance plan
  • Proof of contact with / invitation to the (academic) institution in the host country
