Students with Ukrainian citizenship

I have Ukrainian citizenship and my exchange studies will end in the summer semester 2023. Is there a possibility of extending my studies so that I can stay in Germany?

Exchange students whose stay ends on 30 September 2023 should contact exchange-students@hu-berlin.de so that individual solutions can be found for extending their study stay.

Students with Russian citizenship

I have Russian citizenship and would like to continue my studies at Humboldt-Universität. What consequences do the university’s decisions have for me?

Students with Russian citizenship are not de-registered and can continue their studies at Humboldt-Universität.

Students at Russian institutions

What happens to incoming students from Russia?

Humboldt-Universität has frozen its cooperation with Russian institutions until further notice. Therefore, no students are being newly selected or nominated from Russian institutions.

Stays abroad in Russia

What happens to planned stays in Russia?

Until further notice, stays abroad in Russia are suspended.

Can I continue my double master’s degree at a Russian university?

Students in the double master’s programme for International Relations should contact the relevant programme representative.

Residence permit and support

I am enrolled and would like to extend my residence permit. Who can I contact?

If you are a student of Humboldt-Universität, you may have your residence permit extended by the Berlin Immigration Office (Landesamt für Einwanderung) on the grounds of your student status. You're also welcome to use HU's Visa Service for students.

Can I receive financial support?

Students who have financial or study related administrative problems due to the current situation in Ukraine and the sanctions against Russia can contact the social counselling service offered by Studierendenwerk.

Where can I get psychological help?

You can contact the university’s psychological counselling service. You can also find someone who will listen to you at the psychotherapeutic counselling service ran by Studierendenwerk.
