1. Do I receive Certificate Points (Zertifikatspunkte) for my volunteer work?

In Component 3, you can receive Certificate Points for your volunteer work at HU Berlin, e.g. in mentoring programmes for international students or in university groups with an international or intercultural focus. You can also receive Certificate Points for your volunteering in Berlin and elsewhere. However, your volunteer work should be mainly university-focused and should help towards the goal of integration of international students. In addition, it should support the mutual social and intellectual exchange between international and German students.

2. I have already received ECTS Points for my volunteer work through ÜWP (Überfachlicher Wahlpflichtbereich), can I also receive Certificate Points (Zertifikatspunkte) for ZERTIKO?

Yes. Volunteer work as well as seminars for which you have received ECTS Points through ÜWP can also be recognised for ZERTIKO.

3. Is it possible to receive Certificate Points (Zertifikatspunkte) for my semester abroad that I completed during my bachelor’s degree at another university?

Yes, you can receive Certificate Points for study abroad that you completed while enrolled at a different university. If this is the case, the activities for the two other components, especially your intercultural and international volunteering, should take place at the HU Berlin.

4. Does my work as a student assistant in the International Office or in the ERASMUS Offices of the faculties count towards Certificate Points (Zertifikatspunkte) for ZERTIKO?

No, you cannot receive Certificate Points for your work as a student assistant, as you are paid for this work and normally receive a work certificate (Arbeitszeugnis). If you wish, we will list this work experience on your ZERTIKO, in order to show the full range of your intercultural and international experiences and activities.

If you have participated in the “Intercultural Training for Student Assistants of the International Office, the ERASMUS-Offices and other International Sectors of the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin”, you can receive Certificate Points for Component 1.
