6.1 Information for the beginning of studies

University studies in Germany are governed by study and examination regulations (Studienordnung SO, Prüfungsordnung PO) for each course. Students are expected to be highly independent in their studies.

Generally, students draw up their own personal timetable for each semester. Before the semester starts, it is helpful to gather information about courses online, and register on time (before the beginning of the lecture period) for seminars and other courses.
