Visa Service for Students
Our Visa Service is available to all international students and doctoral students of HU Berlin. Through the Visa Service, you can both apply for and extend your residence permit to the Berlin Immigration Office (Landesamt für Einwanderung, LEA). You receive multilingual support and advice with your questions and problems.
Currently, there are extraordinarily long waiting times at the LEA. We receive appointments for fingerprints only after a long delay (currently 6-8 weeks). It takes months until the electronic residence permits are sent out. It is important that the applications are submitted in time. From then on, the residence titles are considered to be valid, even if they have already expired. We cannot speed up the procedure. Whenever you get appointments at the LEA, please make use of them.
