Circle U. Seminar "The EU and Eastern Europe: Peace, Democracy, and Cooperation"
For the third time already, Claudia Matthes and Edoardo Traversa (UC Louvain) organised a block seminar in Louvain-la-Neuve: "The EU and Eastern Europe: Peace, Democracy, and Cooperation". Students from both universities engaged in a simulated meeting of the European Council in order to sketch a new Strategy for Enlargement.
This immersive process illuminated the intricate interplay between EU institutions, member states and accession countries, while addressing the geopolitical stakes of enlargement. The activity was enriched by presentations from Claudia Matthes, Ivana Radić Milošavljević (University of Belgrade) and a site visit to the European Commission with experts from the Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations (DG Near).
