On 16 June 2025, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (HU) and French university Paris Sciences et Lettres (PSL) entered into a comprehensive strategic partnership. The cooperation will commence in the 2025/2026 academic year and is initially planned for a period of five years.

With this new agreement, HU is transitioning its previously project-based ties with one of France’s leading research institutions into a formal institutional framework. Both universities are responding to global challenges in science and society by strengthening their international networks and committing to academic excellence. The intensified collaboration will focus on six key areas – including the promotion of academic collaboration, the reciprocal exchange of researchers and students, as well as joint events.
