Oleksandra Bienert on navigating German universities and society
Are you a Ukrainian refugee thinking about studying in Germany? Wondering how others have successfully navigated the German higher education system – and even thrived within it?
Join us for an inspiring evening with Oleksandra Bienert – a Ukrainian researcher, photographer, and human rights activist living in Berlin – as she shares her journey from Chernivtsi to becoming the first Ukrainian to receive the Order of Merit of the State of Berlin.
Topics covered:
- personal experiences of studying in Germany – from Bachelor’s to PhD
- building a professional life in Berlin
- volunteering, activism and civic participation as pathways to integration and impact
After the talk, stay for a relaxed tea gathering – a cozy space to connect, ask questions, and share your own experiences or thoughts. The event will be held in Ukrainian.
