At Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin there are two different ways to obtain a PhD: Individual doctorates or structured PhD programs.

Postdoctoral researchers (Postdocs) are researchers at Humboldt-Universität who, after completing their PhD degree, are temporally employed, and either work on research projects or direct their own research projects.

Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin welcomes every year about 350 international scholars from around the world to conduct short research.
