Useful Information for your application

Application deadlines for the academic year 2023/2024

Our updated application deadlines for the academic year 2023/2024 can be viewed here. The semester dates at the partner universities vary greatly from the German semester dates. For further information, please check the regional pages. Different application deadlines apply for ERASMUS. Therefore please contact your institute.

Application Procedure

All applications for study abroad stays at our worldwide partner universities must be submitted online.

For the required documents and additional application instructions, please check here.

If your written application is successful, you will in most cases be invited to an interview in which we will ask you in more detail about your motivation to go abroad.

Apart from your application for a study place at one of our partner universities, you still have to think about the funding of your study abroad (living expenses and travel costs). You can find information on the individual funding options and scholarships in our section "Other Scholarships".

After your study abroad you will be asked to submit a study abroad experience report.

Where can I get more information and consultation?

Individual consultations currently take via phone, e-mail or Zoom. You can find the correct contact persons for the different regions in our Advising overview page. For access to our Moodle Course for study abroad experience reports by former exchange participants please contact the Global Mobility Team.

Further regional information:

The DAAD has published study guides and short information leaflets for most countries. Those information materials are available at the SSC or can be found online (only available in German).

Embassies of the host countries are a good resource for information on issues such as visa/study permit regulations. The culture sections have literature and general information about daily life in your chosen host country.
